Division of Epidemiology, Public Health and Primary Care
UK/EU PhD Studentships

3-year UK/EU PhD Studentships (ESRC funded)
The Division has four 3-year ESRC studentships for candidates who wish to undertake projects within the ESRC remit of ‘social statistics, research methods and computing’ which is defined at: http://www.esrcsocietytoday.ac.uk/ESRCInfoCentre/opportunities/postgraduate/fundingopportunities/.

>Examples of previous ESRC studentships within the Division include:

• Aetiology of Gua Kua: A newly indentified liver disease in the Tigray region of Ethiopia
• Genetic association analysis from a life-course perspective in the Northern Finland Birth Cohort 1966

Candidates should have completed an ESRC recognised masters course or equivalent. The studentship includes full payment of tuition fees and an enhanced stipend of £17,000. Owing to funding restrictions these studentships are open to UK nationals or EU nationals, who have lived in the UK for at least three years immediately preceding the date of the award. All students will belong to the Graduate School of Life Sciences and Medicine which provides a full programme of training in research and transferable skills. Students will be based in the Department of Epidemiology & Public Health, Infectious Disease Epidemiology, or Primary Care & Social Medicine within the Division of EPHPC.
