University of Cambridge in international law 2009

BOHDAN WINIARSKI SCHOLARSHIP 2009: The Lauterpacht Centre for International Law is the scholarly home of international law at the University of Cambridge. The Centre, founded by Sir Elihu Lauterpacht in 1983, is one of the specialist law centres of the Faculty of Law and is the premier centre in the UK for international law research.

The Centre conducts a range of scholarly activities throughout the University term, including lectures by
leading practitioners and academics on topical issues of international law. It also publishes a number of
important texts and case reports and provides research facilities and accommodation for visiting fellows
and scholars from around the world.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for the scholarships should comply with the following:

• have Polish citizenship;
• be fluent in English;
• be associated with a Polish university or another institution in

Poland dealing with international law;
• specify a project on some aspect of international law on which they will work while resident at the Lauterpacht Centre. Preferably, the project should be published as a result of the visit.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications should consist of the following documents:
• the Candidate’s CV (curriculum vitae);
• a letter outlining the project they indend to work on whilst at the Centre;
• two letters of reference (or the names and addresses of two referees).

All documents should be provided in English, except for the letters of reference, which may be in Polish.

Candidates should indicate whether they have applied or intend to apply for any other scholarship connected with their intended stay in the United Kingdom.

DEADLINE: 30 JANUARY 2009

The deadline for applications is 30 January 2009. Receipt of applications will be acknowledged if sent by email, but only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Applications will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the Director of the Lauterpacht Centre.
