The Wellcome Trust is seeking applications for its 2009 Biomedical Vacation Scholarships, which enable undergraduate biomedical and veterinary science students to conduct hands-on research during their summer vacation.
The programme aims to encourage promising undergraduates at the mid-point of their degrees to explore a career in research. The scholarships provide students with research experience during their summer break.
Each successful student will receive a stipend for up to eight weeks to undertake a short laboratory-based research project at a UK or Republic of Ireland university.
The programme is open to undergraduate students in their second or mid-point years studying a basic science, medical, dentistry or veterinary degree at a university in the UK or Republic of Ireland. Students are encouraged to arrange their scholarship away from their usual place of study.
Applications must be submitted on behalf of the student, by the project supervisor. Please note that research expenses are not provided.
More details and the application form for the award are available on the Vacation Scholarship scheme page. Completed forms must be returned by 16 February 2009.
