OPEN POSITIONS in Regenerative Medicine / Stem Cell Research 2 Postdoctoral fellows & 2 MD/PhD students
Highly motivated, team-oriented and creative individuals interested in innovative and multidisciplinary scientific approaches are sought to fill open positions (MD/PhD student or junior postdoctoral fellow). Good knowledge and understanding of aging biology or regenerative biomedicine is a definite plus.
These positions are available in a research program guided in joint collaboration between the Austrian Academy of Sciences and the Medical University of Innsbruck, which is substantially funded by the EC 7th framework and a transnational networking and translational research program (FFG-Laura Bassi Centre of Excellence).
The prime purpose of the projects is in the field of regenerative medicine with emphasis on deviations in elderly patients. Particular research topics will be concerned with the biology of mesenchymal stem cell aging and tissue engineering of bone and related healing mechanisms thereof. The laboratories are well equipped with outstanding resources. The closely interacting institutes offer a very stimulating and highly interdisciplinary environment.
Candidates are expected to have prior interest and/or training in the biology of regenerative processes with particular emphasis regarding transdisciplinary biomedical research. Hands-on experience in benchtop biochemical and molecular biological techniques, a strong background in cell biology, knowledge about basic immunological methods, yet quite important, understanding of animal research is required. The candidate should be able to work independently with a good sense of team spirit, most importantly being able to effectively interact with people in the lab as well as with clinicians.
