The Laboratory of Medical Microbiology within the Vaccine & Infectious Diseases Institute(VAXINFECTIO) of the faculty of Medicine has a fulltime position (m/v):

PhD fellow (100%)

in the field of Medical Microbiology

Tasks:

you will prepare a PhD in the framework of a project studying medically relevant biofilms

you will study biofilm development and co-aggregation as well as antibiotic resistance in biofilms, utilizing both standard microbiological and state-of-the art molecular techniques .

Project:

Bacterial biofilms are a new concept in infectious disease, and can explain resistance to antibiotics and to host defenses along with being one of the most important factors responsible for bacterial persistence evidenced as chronic infections.

Profile:

you are holder of a master degree in Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Pharmacy or a related subject with a strong interest in bacterial genetics and in laboratory work

good knowledge of English is required.

We offer:

a dehousse mandate for 12 months, which will be extended up to 3-4 years upon excellent performance

starting date is 1/10/2009
